Edgewood Academy & Academic Excellence

Edgewood is an independent college preparatory school educating students from preschool through 12th grade.  Edgewood was established in 1967 for the purpose of providing Elmore County and surrounding communities with the opportunity to enroll their children in an independent school offering both academic achievement and character development.  Edgewood admits students from all ethnic, cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds that can benefit from a challenging academic program as well as a variety of curricular and extracurricular activities.

Edgewood is accredited by the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA), and the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation Alliance (CITA).  This means that our graduates are recognized by colleges as a quality prospect for their school.  Our students score well above the national average on the Stanford Achievement Test and over ninety percent of Edgewood graduates go on to higher education.

All of this has helped contribute to Edgewood being named an AISA Blue Ribbon School since 2000.  This distinction is given to school exemplifying excellence in teaching, student performance, school life, and school / community interaction. Blue Ribbon schools also are involved in an on-going process of school improvement.
